Ideas for combining patterns

The mix of patterns is a daring but guaranteed to be a successful decoration proposal. Combine different scenes indoors and outdoors; Prints on textiles such as cushions and rugs, upholstered sofas, wallpapered walls... If we choose the prints in question and the surfaces and materials well, we can create a cheerful, colorful and very sophisticated look.

A simple room can change completely thanks to the patterns we choose. We can even achieve symmetrical and amplitude effects.

Combining patterns is simple if we follow certain steps to the letter and, of course, if we are not totally convinced that we know how to do it alone, it would be convenient to have an expert interior designer to guide us and help us create a mix according to what we are looking for, surely it will be money well invested. ;-)

4 steps to combine patterns:

Choose a large-scale pattern that matches as many colors as possible. (For example, select a couple of walls and choose a patterned paper that combines 4 or 5 colors. The more colors it contains, the easier it will be to find other textiles to combine and fit into the decoration. This will be the reference pattern to inspire the rest of the room's decoration.
Select a medium-scale pattern that combines some of the colors we have in the large-scale pattern. It is not necessary to integrate all the colors of the first pattern but it is necessary that the motif of the print is different.
Now it's time to select a small-scale pattern with one or two colors of those that appear in the previous patterns is enough. The motif may be similar to the pattern chosen for the first two patterns.
Add extra patterns for a super special look. These should be very small and so should their textures.
Since we are in spring premiere we are going to take advantage of it so that you can better understand these 4 steps with an example in which, the objective is to create a mix of spring patterns, if you like, you know, this weekend homework. :)

Important to note:

The patterns we select will be decisive and can change the shape of our space, so we must consider some clarifications. For example, horizontal stripes shorten and give the feeling that ceilings are less high, while vertical stripes elongate. If we are looking to give prominence to a window then we can use curtains with a geometric pattern or with an intense color that contrasts with the natural light of the sun.
