Sideboards are functional furniture, we usually buy them because we need to be served, we need extra storage in the living room or bedroom and we opt for a sideboard that provides us with that service and that combines with the decoration of our home, but we do not usually acquire them as an important decorative element for one of the rooms.
That is why I think it is very useful to know how to take advantage of and enhance the beauty of this piece of furniture, in fact we can get the attention to focus on our sideboard and/or use it as a place to give free rein to our imagination and create a decorative corner with the accessories and elements that we like the most.
One of the advantages of sideboards is that, normally (there are exceptions) they are furniture with a low height, so they are a good place to create a decorative space.

How to decorate a sideboard to enhance its beauty?

Create still lifes
A good idea is to group objects together instead of leaving four or five things scattered throughout the furniture that lose strength to interest, unifying accessories and creating groups we manage to enhance their aesthetics and focus more attention.
Combine materials.
Combining colours, textures and materials helps to create a more interesting and more striking space, for example a mix of ceramic, glass, wrought iron, wood objects...
Includes one plant
You already know the importance I give to plants and green spaces in decoration, they provide freshness and light.
Bookcase sideboard
Books and magazines, in addition to offering culture and entertainment, are also useful in decoration, we can place lots of books or magazines along the entire base of the sideboard, even sort them by color.
Paintings and photographs
If you are always looking for trends, be sure to place on your sideboard frames of photographs, illustrations or paintings, you know that in terms of fashion almost anything goes and this way is much more stylish than the traditional way of hanging the pictures on the wall.

Types of sideboards

Minimalist
with simple and straight lines, in white tones and usually rectangular.
Industrial inspiration
They are a success in Nordic spaces and contrast very well with other natural wood furniture. We can choose in more industrial tones such as black or gray or in a white finish.
Rustic and retro-inspired sideboards

Made of oak wood, aged effect, second-hand... They bring a special charm to any room in the home.

Nordic sideboards
The Nordic-inspired sideboard usually combines white tones with natural wood.
Overhangs
Another type of sideboard, widely used in the living room to place the television is the cantilevered sideboard, fastened to the wall.
