An old country house renovated and full of light from the south of Spain

Today we set course for the south of Spain. The days go by, the holidays end for many, but we resist thinking that the days of summer are numbered. No, no and no! There is still a lot to enjoy. We want to feed these sensations even more, and that is why today we present you again with a cozy and quiet house, perfect for a summer retreat. This time, we don't need to go far. We have it nearby, specifically in Alhaurín el Grande, Malaga.

Surely its owners did not even imagine that the old country house they had in front of them would  become what it is now. Its designer, Mireia Pla, manages to turn it into an airy, very bright and warm home by connecting the house completely with the outside. How? Its large windows give us the answer. Through them the sun and the light from the south sneak in and reach every corner. The designer also makes this house a family gathering place. How? Betting on open and open spaces. Integrating rooms such as the kitchen, dining room and living room facilitates communication, inviting family and friends to spend time together. As if the meeting space was not enough, it opens up completely to the pool area.

The style of the house mixes the rustic with the contemporary. The rustic essence is transmitted to us by the walls and walls (such as those of stone), polished cement floors, the wood of some furniture and the use of natural fibers in carpets, baskets, stools and even in lampshades. But, on the other hand, the accessories and decorative elements add a contemporary and current touch. The designer also chooses to give the space a touch of color. To maintain the warmth and softness of the home, the brushstrokes of color are pastel and warm tones.

The two bathrooms are two bedrooms that we love. The main one, due to its spaciousness, its straight lines, its neutral colours and the views from the window, transmits tranquillity and, most importantly, relaxation. The second, smaller but no less charming, transmits freshness and joy with that very successful blue color.
