An exemplary refurbishment for a Barcelona apartment

Today we visit a 90m2 apartment located in the coolest Barcelona neighborhood of the moment, El Born. This house is a clear example of how a good renovation can completely change the appearance of a home. The final result, a bright, spacious apartment full of charm.

The house started from a good base: bright spaces, high ceilings, exposed beams and a parquet floor that was preserved, due to its good condition.

The apartment did not need major renovations, rather, small changes that will help to highlight its full potential. It was decided to eliminate unnecessary doors in passage areas and create others without subtracting meters from the floor, to provide a greater feeling of spaciousness, brightness and privacy to the new home.

The walls were painted in a pearl grey, which together with the original ceilings with wooden beams painted in white; They help to enhance the natural light of the home.

Neutral tones (grey, white, creams) are the main protagonists. Details and accessories in blues and browns to add contrast to the environments. 

As for the furniture, we opted for furniture with straight and simple lines, references of the Nordic style; to which vintage and industrial style pieces are mixed to give personality to the new home. Low cost pieces that coexist in total harmony with iconic pieces of contemporary design.

The kitchen was kept in its original place, but thanks to a new distribution of furniture , an expansion of the space was achieved.

By using neutral tones on walls and furniture, and creating such a uniform atmosphere; This will help the hydraulic tiles of the cooking front to become the main protagonists of the environment. 

Sleep headboard

As for the bedrooms, the same decorative pattern is used again as in the rest of the house. Neutral tones in furniture and walls;  thus creating an atmosphere that invites calm and relaxation. 

With this neutral decoration, the headboards become the focal point of the rooms. A simple decorative solution, with a great visual impact.
