Artificial light for the home is always necessary. Dress, complete, and elevate the décor. Enhances, during the day, natural light. And, until we develop night vision, we need it to see when the sun goes down. We agree, then, that we need it, right? Since this is so, let's take advantage of the fact that we play with one more decorative element and look for how to introduce it in the most attractive way in our home. Today, we bring you a recommendation and, for some, perhaps a discovery. Did you know the potential of arc lamps and how practical and functional they are? If the answer is no, read on!

But first, a little history

Although we can now find them easily and in a wide variety of materials (and prices), in its origins it was an exclusive and very expensive product. It dates back to the 60s and those who brought it to life, the Milanese architects Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, sought to create a revolutionary item in the world of lighting. Their intentions were to create a floor lamp that could illuminate a table as a ceiling one would (projecting the light from above), that would not disturb the diners and that would offer the comfort of not being anchored to a place, but that could be easily moved. And why are we telling you all this? Because they fulfilled their intentions and in them lies the functionality of these floor lamps.

What can they bring to a room?

First of all, they complete the decoration of any room. If it is introduced correctly and in balance with the rest of the elements, what you will achieve will be a great look. The rarity and peculiarity of arch lamps make them beautiful in themselves and give a room a sophisticated, imposing, personal and original look. If an ordinary floor lamp is already attractive and attractive to all eyes due to its size and verticality, an arc lamp even more so. In terms of style, there are so many models, colors and shapes that adapt to anyone, whether the most minimalist or the most bohemian.

On the other hand, they provide a lot of light while taking up little space. Taking into account a few measurements (we deal with this below), you can place one of these lamps in any room. If you have enough space, we recommend placing a very large one. This way, you will ensure that you have all the light you need to get by, as it will perfectly replace the function of a pendant or ceiling lamp. Most of them already allow you to regulate their light, so you can adapt them to any situation, whether you want to use it as an environment, occasionally or as a background.

What should you consider before choosing your model?

Arc lamps don't take up much space, but if the room you want to put one in has low ceilings, it may not be the right lamp.

- Measure the height at which the ceiling is from the floor and what the curve of the lamp covers, so that they do not collide.

- Measure the fall that it should have approximately (that is, how far the end should go) so that no one can hit it.

- Measure the maximum size that the base should have, since they are usually larger (think that they have to support the weight of the structure).
