Mediterranean style house on the Levantine coast

Today on the blog a very special house, a perfect holiday home that is special because it dates back to the 50s. And it is that we are increasingly used to relating spectacular summer houses with modern infrastructures, innovative, relatively new buildings... And yes, there are urbanizations with heart-stopping summer homes, but the charm that we find in restored houses like this one located in La Barraca cove, in the Alicante town of Jávea, is almost impossible to achieve in current construction.

It is a small house built by the fishermen of the area, who were bringing on successive boat trips, each of the materials they needed to build it, since at that time there was still no road in the area. The most striking thing about the history of this house, which is an example of many other constructions of the 50s, is that those men who built it had no supervision whatsoever. The only thing that moved them was the experience accumulated generation after generation in the construction of their humble homes. And as far as we can see, it was enough, because more than half a century later, the building is still intact.

Obviously the home has been conditioned to enjoy a comfort typical of the 21st century, as well asthe electrical installation, the placement of appliances in the kitchens, etc.

The architectural elements such as ceilings, beams, floor and windows were maintained, which is certainly what truly brings charm and personality to the house.

Lime coating, white and blue colors in honor of the Mediterranean Sea and that gives a feeling of freshness in all rooms. To complete the decoration, materials such as wood and natural fibers have been used, thus giving a traditional and cozy appearance, typical of coastal houses and characteristic of the Mediterranean style.

Surely its original builders could not imagine that this house was typical of a decoration magazine today.
