Marina Cabero's hygge home

I'm sure that in recent months you have heard hygge with some insistence. It is a word of Danish origin that seeks to express happiness at home, feeling good and building our little refuge. That term is the one that comes to mind when we see Marina Cabero's account.

1. Almost 48K on Instagram and a reference account of Nordic style, tell us a little more about how this adventure came about. 

While I was pregnant with my second daughter Martina, I had to rest for 4 months in a row and I discovered Instagram. 

Until then my interest in decoration was limited to buying magazines from time to time at the newsstand and little else. I started looking for inspiration to decorate Martina's room and discovered such a lot of beautiful beads with a dreamy children's decoration, that I decided to go from the traditional decoration that we see in traditional stores, to buy or make all those little details that made the difference myself. 

Everything from scratch: zero followers, little knowledge in photography, decoration, DIY's, etc. And the hobby was transformed into passion, and passion into my second job. I totally agree that creativity is something you have to practice!

2. In relation to the previous question (being aware of the effort and time it takes to offer quality content), when did you decide to take the leap and dedicate yourself completely to this?

I don't know exactly when it was, but I do remember that reaching 10K was something very important for me. The beginnings were very hard because I wanted to do everything and do it very well. 

It has been 4 years in which combining my full-time job, my family, the house and Instagram has not been an easy task. There came a point where I had to slow down, and realize that my time and effort are very valuable.

Quality is better than quantity, since I am the one who takes the reins in my profile and my blog. Being able to see that you can work at what you like, has totally changed my life and makes me very happy. 

3. Your house is full of Nordic design and very soft colors, what is your favorite corner?

The living room is definitely my favorite place. I love the light it has and it's the space where we spend the most time together. I have a lot of super favorites when it comes to décor, like the swing ;)

4. And now on the contrary, what will be your next decorative challenge or what DIY do you already have in mind. 

The changes don't stop at home, but there are a couple of things I've been wanting to do for a long time: decorate the terrace to turn it into an oasis of relaxation and, on the other hand, I would love to change the dark parquet upstairs.

5. Time flies by and we are already in March. From our new spring collection, what products do you think are basic to brighten up our home a little?

You know that my obsession is natural materials such as wicker, rattan, bamboo, etc. Here are some of the objects I have my eye on. 

1. Rattan table/stool

3. Rattan tube armchair
4. Bamboo lamp and basket

6. Finally, you can tell us about new projects or where you see Marina Cabero in 5 years. 

I'm not one to look at the long term, but I'd like to work creating outfits outside the home or advising on decoration issues.  I want to continue training and learning a lot, to make a living from what I like and what makes me happy.
