Do you have a small hallway ? The hallway is often one of the most neglected spaces in our homes, a dumping ground for shoes, coats, keys and all the other general paraphernalia that catches you at the last minute you are going to leave the house. However, this is the first space where our guests see when they enter our home and therefore it is worth investing in time and effort to ensure a hallway with a "WOW!" effect.

As a general rule, for these tiny hallways it is best to stick to a combination of neutral colours on walls and floors to improve the feeling of light and space and then inject colour with works of art, flowers and decorative decorations. Having a resistant floor is a good idea since it is a space with a lot of traffic in the house, so wood and stone can be a good option. And then put a rug to give it comfort and above all make a more acoustic area and of course be part of the decoration.

Here are ideas to improve our hallways

Hallway rug or "Runner"

If you have an elongated hallway then a hallway rug is an excellent option. Make sure that the rug does not step on the furniture so that the space has a feeling of openness and that it does not get in the way when opening the front door. If your hallway is rather square then a round rug would be ideal and like the elongated rug, make sure to place it in such a way that it does not interrupt the natural exit-entry step to the house.

Create a visual effect on walls

Engage your guests immediately by creating an eye-catching mural. Here, you can create sets of frames and/or mirrors in an "eclectic" way by mixing even styles and sizes, atrevid@"!  or if you are more minimalist, a unique piece will make the desired effect.

For dark hallways:

Another simple idea: Place a mirror to catch the light and bring the sun into a dark hallway. in addition to visually enlarging the space, so we have a "two-in-one" date.

Give it a more cozy touch with a chair and a chest of drawers or small table,

If you have a small corner in the lobby, put a small table and chair (or even just a chair) to give it a more cozy touch. For very narrow hallways, a shelf will suffice.

Maintaining order

Use coat racks to organize quickly and keep order just inside the house.

Say goodbye to mud-stained floors:

Say goodbye to mud floors. Place shoes and boots in baskets, shelves or simply leave a space on the floor for it.

This way you will avoid damaging the wood and have a cleaner floor.

Multifunction bench:

A bench in an entrance is undoubtedly for me the best option; It is aesthetic and practical at the same time, it can be useful if you take off your shoes to enter the house,  you can put books, magazines, cushions or a vase with flowers on top of it to give it a striking touch.

Decorate according to the holiday or time of year

This is a great idea that will put the icing on your hallway. Decorate with small, easy-to-put objects depending on the time of year or holiday. Put garlands for the entrance of Christmas or hanging decorations on the ceiling, flowers to celebrate the arrival of spring... there is no end to the imagination here!
