Outdoor decoration, we walk through the perfect terrace

Summer is finally just around the corner, the heat is beginning to be felt throughout the country and the time has come to think and finalize the outdoor decoration. If you are lucky enough to have a large terrace at home or live in an attic, this post is designed for you. 

Sometimes when it comes to decorating and planning the exterior decoration in an integral way, it is easy for some  blockages to arise. The most common problems are the lack of life on the terrace, checking that it is not very cozy or the impossibility of dedicating much time to its maintenance.

Choose practical and functional materials

Raise your hand if you have started decorating any room in your home thinking about the small details. Without a doubt, this is one of the first mistakes, starting a project at the end. Before making any decisions, plan the space, find out about the best materials and think about lighting. 

On the outside of the house , the cladding is subject to the sun, extreme temperatures and rain. Choose functional materials, which adapt very well to inclement weather. In this case, synthetic flooring has been chosen that imitates wood, is resident, does not expand and is easy to clean. Other materials that you can consider are ceramics, concrete or microcement. 

Natural fibres as the cornerstones of decoration

Contrary to what many people assume, wicker is not a material, but a way of braiding  reed, rattan or bamboo, which was already used in Ancient Egypt and gained a lot of relevance in the Middle Ages. 

Its advantages are lightness, resistance and, above all, on an aesthetic level it is perfect to give warmth to the exterior. Here is a selection of furniture and accessories, which you will find in the shop designed for your terraces and gardens.

Built-in sofa to maximise space

Whether you have a large terrace or a few square meters, built-in sofas are always a good idea. They adapt to every centimeter, are resistant and very economical. 

In this case, it is manufactured with the same synthetic flooring to give continuity to the floor. Then the cushions in beige, pink tones and with soft prints finish giving life to the whole, since these sofas can be too sober on their own. 

Commitment to Mediterranean plants

Plants are one of your most powerful weapons to give color to the terrace. Before buying them according to fashions or species that we have seen on Instagram, analyze the climate of your city, the orientation of the house and the hours of sunshine. 

Broadly speaking, if you don't have much time to dedicate to them or you want low-maintenance plants, buy aromatic plants (lavender, rosemary or thyme), succulents and cacti. Of course, artificial plants have a more realistic finish every day and are the best solution if your time is very scarce or you spend little time at home. 

Textiles: The key to success in outdoor decoration

On the outside of the house, textiles should have the same weight as inside, providing a powerful feeling of warmth and turning any corner into a more welcoming space. On this terrace they have opted for very soft colors (beige and white) along with pale pink, which always transmits serenity. 

As you can see in the images, in this project we have opted for cotton (breathable for the sofa area) and other natural fibers such as linen on the dining table. The rug not only dresses the floor, but also marks the separation between the dining room and the gathering area.
