Today a before and after of a bedroom in a penthouse near Amsterdam. It is a room of unusual proportions, on one side we have a large and spacious room, but on the other side we find a narrower space with lower ceilings.

The old layout of the bedroom did not do justice to the real space it has and, as the furniture was placed, the feeling was of overwhelm and disorder, it even looked like a darker room than it really is, because of the patterned paper on the wall.

Playing with proportions and sizes is vital to create the visual effect we want and this attic bedroom is a great example of this. A delicate Nordic-style decoration has been chosen, with just the right furniture and light colours that enhance the brightness.

After the renovation of the bedroom we find a family, relaxed atmosphere and a much more balanced distribution. In fact, the kitten was already cute, but now he looks even fluffier and more lucid. :)

Two points of light have been placed on the bed so that both sides are sufficiently illuminated and, what I like the most, how well the elements on the narrow side of the room have been chosen, choosing overhanging sideboards that generate a feeling of spaciousness and placing a small tree that also generates that feeling of a longer wall than it really is. They have even managed to find a very flirtatious reading corner.

So as you can see, renovating a room and achieving a fresh and youthful, bright and comfortable environment, does not require a large investment or many headaches, we just have to squeeze the most out of the space we have and choose the necessary components, which are functional, stylish and with simple lines.
